Getting Started – Introduction

Welcome to Transferito, this is a quick and easy guide on how to get started with your WordPress migrations.

First of all, let’s start with the two different types of sites.

Active Site:

An active site is the website that you will be migrating from. For example, this could be a live website or a staging website that holds the current WordPress installation.

Destination Site:

Your destination site, this will be the place where you will want your active site to be migrated to. An example can be a local development environment or any hosting provider or server.

So now we know the difference between an active site and a destination site, let’s continue with our migration.

Migration Types:

Transferito offers two types of migrations. These migrations are split into the following categories.

Pull:

Pull is when we refer to a migration as bringing an Active WordPress site from a live or staging environment and directly installing it into your local development environment.

Deploy:

Deploy is when we will refer to as migrating a WordPress website from your local development environment to hosting provider or server. This could also be moving a current hosted WordPress site to any hosting provider or server.

These guides will walk you through how to perform both types of migrations.
